Traveling for 9 Days, Need Recommendations!

Hey y'all, I'm bringing my wife (Chinese) to the US for the first time to visit my parents. She's very open-minded and loves Western food, particularly Mexican food. I need some recommendations (not only Mexican!) for the best places to show her and impress her. Greek, Italian, BBQ, etc., are all on the table.

My parents live near Galveston if that makes any difference, but we can drive to downtown no issue.

For Mexican food, I already saw in another thread Taqueria la Fonda and Gorditas Aguascalientes recommended and we plan to check those out. We don't need fancy, or anything, just something great that can show us what Houston's food is all about!
