Homeless Mother Passed Away in her Vehicle

I, her only child, live out of state. She had no will that I’m aware of. She was never married. Her car was towed to a lot on Highway 6 North. As I embark on trying to round up her belongings and assets, my biggest hurdle is getting her car.

Any and all information about her life is in that vehicle. I’ve tried calling the storage lot where the car is located multiple times and gotten through to speak to someone just once. He made it sound like I couldn’t touch the vehicle without my name being on the title (it isn’t) or the insurance (it isn’t). And only when I brought up a death certificate did he agree that that would likely suffice. However, death certificates take time and she has yet to have an autopsy. Is there any other way to get the car out of that lot (while it racks up daily fees) prior to obtaining a death certificate? Again, it would really help me figuring out if she had any other assets and belongings and where they might be.
