Any tips for charging an EV in Houston?

I’m really struggling to find functioning, available public chargers for my Chevy Bolt near the center of the city. Venturing out to suburban areas or even small towns, I never have an issue (I use PlugShare to find stations). But if I need to charge close to home in Montrose – it’s like Mad Max. Lines of cars and no system, people arguing over who’s next. Yes, I can run an extension cord from my house and get a full charge in like 3 days. But am I missing something here?
