Roach decrease

So I’ve lived in the heights area my whole life and I noticed that ever since I’ve been taking care of my friends cats these past couple months I don’t see nearly any big roaches. They usually are active this time of year looking for cool air and moisture. Do you think having a cat somehow deters these roaches from entering? I hate the roaches here they’re big and menacing, maybe I’ll get a cat?
