Texans Vs. Steelers Takeaways – Negatives

Alrighty boys it’s that time of the week and sadly another game has passed without a w. I’m starting with the negatives cuz I want to end on a good note.

1ST DOWN PLAYCALLING- I capitalized this one because it’s the one that was the most glaring. When your quarterback is 14/18 with 2 touchdowns going into the half you let him throw the ball. Stop running the ball on 1st when you’re playing teams with elite run d/ pass rush. David Johnson is one of the best pass catching backs in the league give him a screen, give him a quick angle route/ flat route and let him create in space. We are running him into a brick wall and expecting him to demolish it and it’s not gonna happen man. Look at what Seattle is doing with Russ, he’s getting to pass the ball early with their subpar offensive line and it allows them to stay ahead of the chains. We should be like 65-35 pass to run ESPECIALLY with no Duke Johnson in the lineup. Even more than that you have an arguably top 3 QB on your roster and he’s playing in spite of you instead of with you.

Run Defense – Once again, don’t even blame this on the defense ( Minus Scarlett bro you’re trash ) our defense isn’t deep in the front end / LBs yet ( no Greenard or Blacklock, we finally saw Cole tho 😃) and when you have them out there for 40+ minutes that’s what’s gonna happen.

URGENCY- Our Offense doesn’t have any type of urgency in them unless it’s the two minute drill ( which we’ve been great in btw ) we should be better than 0 points in the second half Point blank period.

Deshaun- I’m putting Deshaun in here because of the 5 sacks, at some point you either gotta run and pick up whatever you can or throw the ball away, but we had like 3 drives stalled by first down sacks. With that being said he played a very Deshaun like game today and he bailed us out on multiple occasions so I’m not going to say anything negative other than at some point you gotta throw that moug away dude.
