Shady pre owned dealers in Houston

Man the places near the energy corridor are shady af…

Went to West Point Lincoln to look at a pre owned car I saw online. The car wasn’t ready to be looked at yet because they were still cleaning it, the price online was $53.9k which was already a “fair price” (aka not an good price) according to online resources.

I know how these people operate, so I asked what was the real price and he informed me that they were $1600 in add-ons.

So I told him no way, and he said that they wouldn’t let that stop a sale and we can talk on Monday.

The salesman told me I can swing by Monday to take a look at it after the inspection. So about 3 hours later I checked the listing to grab the Vin number and they jacked the price up $3000 after I had inquired about it lol. Now the car is listed for $56.9.

That’s a “bait and switch” as they say, and there’s nothing wrong with them screwing me over since we never had a contractual agreement for a price. It’s just unethical and when a dealer does this to you it’s a huge warning sign.

I looked at the reviews of West Point Lincoln, and holy s**t. I think I dodged a bullet. They are scam artists over there and it amazes me how what they do is somehow legal.

It’s not just this place, another place down the road wanted me to pay $500 for key insurance even though the car came with two keys.

To make this situation so bad, these cars are already listed for his high prices. It’s not like they are giving me a good deal and then putting add-ons on top of it.

It’s really a shame, but it’s only worth dealing with the larger dealers around here anymore. For example, Lexus dealers never have add-ons, even on their preowned stuff.

Heck, i’d even consider Carmax now, but the woese thing about Carmax is a lot of people who sell to them are just desperate to get rid of vehicles that have serious mechanical problems.
