Visiting Houston, what area should we look to stay in.

My wife and I (both 39) are taking my MIL (71) to Houston for her birthday to see her sister in Lake Jackson. We’re looking for an Airbnb or hotels in/near Houston. We’re kind of overwhelmed with options. What areas should we be looking at? We’re trying to hit a baseball game, eat good food, maybe visit a couple breweries while we’re there. Flying in, will have rental car.
