Anybody know any nice nature areas close enough for a day trip?

I work from home and don’t really have any friends here because I just recently moved here, so I don’t ever go out much. So I’m trying to find some things to do. I love nature but I don’t really see very many nice areas from the limited amount of searching I’ve done. I come from DFW area and there’s so many lakes that when I used to get bored I would just drive to the nearest lake and walk around. But there isn’t really much of that around here from what I’ve seen. I’m looking for nature that makes you feel like you aren’t in a city anymore, and I’m willing to drive as long as I can make it there, spend some time, and make it back in a day. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
