How is it like to live in Katy as a teenager

I'm an 11th grader currently living in Malaysia. My family and I are moving to Katy, TX in the summer and I was wondering how life in general (school-life, city life) is for a 17 year old living there and planning to go to university in Houston soon. Are the high schoolers chill, because i have heard bad things about texan high schools.
