Alligator question for a Newb?

Hi All,

We’ll be moving to Houston in September with 2 young kids and I’m a bit freaked out about alligators. Can anyone offer some info as to how common they are or what areas to avoid? Is there usually signage warning if there’s a big population? Do they ever come into your yard?
