Why are the astros struggling?

I’m a long time houston texans fan and have been wanting to get in to baseball. This season is my first season attempting to watch baseball and i’m rooting for the astros ( no surprise ), however i’ve noticed that they have been doing poorly. I was wondering why that is? I want to have more knowledge that way i can participate more on baseball conversations
