Questions regarding a demolished downtown Houston skyscraper

Hello everyone

I was recently looking at some old photographs of the Houston skyline and I noticed a building which was present in the photographs but has been demolished and replaced with a parking lot.

Upon further research, I was only able to find one photograph of the building called "Southwest Tower". https://www.houstonmod.org/home/southwest-tower/

Due to there only being one source about the building, it leaves one big question of mine unanswered. Why was it demolished? From what I found on the link above, the building was built in 1965 and demolished in 1983. Did this have anything to do with Hurricane Alicia which struck Houston in the same year and caused significant damage to downtown Houston?

If anybody knows the history about this lost Houston tower, please tell me down below. I am very interested in learning more. Also any photographs of this building would be appreciated as I can only find one high quality photo of the building.
