Please Help Me Decide Where to House Hunt

My soon to be husband and I will be relocating from California to Houston area this summer for him to start his PhD program. We are going to be house hunting soon but aren’t quite sure where we should look! He will be at the Texas Medical Center so we don’t want too crazy of a commute for him (hoping to cap it at 1 hour), but also are very interested in living in one of the surrounding suburbs since we will be starting a family. I would appreciate any suggestions for suburbs or areas of Houston that have a similar suburb-y vibe! Thanks!
