Philly to Houston

Hello! My husband and I are planning on moving to Houston (Clear Lake or League City area) this June/July. We’re over the snow and hate the cold. Everyone keeps acting as though we’re going to melt away during the summer months but ya’ll still live there and are fine. Is it really THAT bad?? Any tips for a northerner moving to Houston? I feel like this is going to be a total life reset for us. Things in the NE are so chaotic and the people can be so rude. We’ve had nothing put positive experiences with Texans.
