On paper, we have given CJ Stroud as much talent as he had back in his last year in college
I’ll be the first to admit, I am not big on college football, but when we were in the process of scouting QB1 last year, one of the negatives I heard about him is that he was playing in a simple offense that was LOADED with talent. Well guess what we did in one offseason? We acquired a 1K yards rusher in Mixon, who is also useful in the passing game, and we received another WR1 who is a 4 time pro bowler. We also have Nico who finished as a true WR1 and Tank who was on pace to have 1K yards+ and 10 TDs. We might have the best playmakers in one offense outside of San Francisco and maybe the Lions.
When CJ was loaded with talent, we all saw what he did to Georgia. That game alone speaks volumes to the type of player CJ is and he has already improved as a player in year 1 with us. I think that as long as our defense is even above average (which I expect it to be top 5-10 with the additions we have made over the offseason), we have a genuine shot of having the most successful season this team has had since its inception. We are still 0-5 in the divisional which stings, but if there’s anyone that can push us over the hump, my money’s on CJ and I have my fullest respects to the McNairs, Nick, and Demeco for knowing we have a shot and going all in for a player that doesn’t exactly fit this culture.
I can’t wait for the season to start.
