Do you sometimes feel Houston is essentially 3-4 separate medium sized cities?

I have lived in the following cities: NYC, Philadelphia, Denver and Atlanta

Except Denver I guess these are also big cities with different neighborhoods and areas. But when you go from one to another you do get a sense of being part of the same city overall:

In Houston, Atleast I get the sense that I’m in almost separate cities if I’m in montrose vs midtown vs galleria vs alief vs vs med center and so on. This is not even talking about suburbs

Does anyone else get that feeling? If yes why do you think t that is the case.
