Finding high paying O&G jobs in Houston area with a geoscience /Environmental Science degree

Hi,

I just moved here from New Jersey and work for an environmental consulting firm. I hace 3 years of experience in the field and a bachelors in environmental science but finding extremely hard to break into the O&G sector Houston is famous for.

I know pure geology majors get paid a lot as exploration geologists but what other fields can one tap into to get into high paying O&G jobs? I have looked into environmental compliance and EHS but no luck.

For people doing really well in O&G here, what worked for you and any tips on how to get into the industry?
