Can someone show or prove to me why you think Byron Murphy is worth the 1st round pick?

I’ve watched numerous breakdowns, highlights, and checked his stats and don’t see why everyone is obsessed with him.

He is not a 3 down player, 85% of the clips I’ve seen are him ALMOST making plays and not actually finishing. On top of that he only has 8 sacks his whole career, while Jer’zhan Newton had 8 sacks alone this season. I did hear that he had the best 1 on 1 pass rush win rate percentage in college football this year but what does that matter if you’re not really making plays?

He seems like more of a gamble, and a project than someone who should be taken in the 1st round. The tools are there for sure but he really hasn’t shown much compared to someone like Newton. He got manhandled against better competition, 1st round picks are meant for the best of the best, elite impact right now players.

It feels like everyone is just hopping on the bandwagon because he’s getting more national attention, and people want to take him just for the sake of getting a DT instead of him actually being worth it, unless someone can please show me differently.
