Houston Heights Bungalow Electricity Bill

So I bought a 1,000 sq ft bungalow earlier this year and I'm now experiencing the shittiness of paying my summer electricity bill which is hovering around 300 bucks a month. Anybody have any experience here and how to mitigate this for Bungalows? I have no outside insulation, so definitely looking in to adding that.
