Places to Live near North Houston

I am a single 25yo man and I put in a transfer from my current city (Columbia, SC) to the USPS facility at IAH and I am wondering which neighborhoods are fairly quiet and near things to do, looking to rent for the first year or so then look into buying a home. I am originally from Florida so I am used to the heat and love Latinas lol. Any advice is appreciated.
