Living in the Greater Uptown area. How is it?

My fiance recently got a job at a large company that is in the Galleria. We currently live in Friendswood, so the commute is a bit crazy. Luckily, we were wanting to move closer to the city anyways, so this gives us a reason to actually do it.

Previously I had planned on us moving to The Heights or Montrose, but we surprisingly found several nice houses/townhomes just outside of the loop in Uptown which would be less than a 10 minute drive to work for her. I never really considered moving to this area, so I haven't really looked into it. Do any of you have experience living in or around here? Specifically, the houses we are looking at are between Fountain View & Nantucket.

If it makes any difference, we are a 34M & 33F no kids.
