Help! Relo to Houston Area

My husband job is transitioning to Houston and we’re considering the move in 2024! There are many details left to iron out, but I’m trying to stay ahead so we’re ready to make that decision.

Originally from DFW area and actually have never stepped foot on Houston soil… so I’m hoping to narrow down the different areas before we head down there for a weekend.

We’re upper 30s, enjoy our careers, have kids in travel sports, and very social.

We have three boys — elementary, middle school and soon to be high school. We have AWESOME GT and Dyslexia support in our current district.

What ISD’s are best? I realize that’s subjective, but we’re looking for a district that excels in the mentioned areas above.

Further, what surrounding neighborhoods should I narrow down? Community means the world to us. We moved into our current area 2 years ago… most of our neighbors are exhaustingly pretentious and not so welcoming. I’m a working mom in a world of SAHM’s and they’ve made it clear that I don’t fit in. It doesn’t help that many of our neighbors were also born/raised in the neighborhood, so the circles are “closed”. If we do make the move, I want to be in an area where it’s not that.

Also, would love to hear what others’ overall experience in the Houston area has been! Good bad and the ugly.
