Car broken into at Spring Branch apartments

Woke up this morning to find my car was broken into and the there was an attempt to get the tyres as well. I had wheel locks so the all the lugnuts on 2 of the tyres were removed except the lock. I'm assuming they broke the passenger side window to search the glovebox for the key, but I had nothing of value there or anything visible in the car either (other than a dashcam which is untouched) so nothing got stolen but it's just a pain to get the window fixed. I last parked the car on Sunday evening, didn't go anywhere during Christmas so maybe a car parked in the same place for 3-4 days is a target? Idk.

Is there really anything one can do tbh? I parked right beside the street light in the apartment complex open parking lot, left nothing visible at all in the car, have wheel locks, park with my tyres fully rotated. But it seems like this just happens in every neighborhood good or bad. HPD took 50 minutes to respond and basically did nothing but give me a Incident #. The apartment only has cameras at the entrance gates so they're not much help either – there's really no security otherwise.

Idk I guess I just wanted to vent since its a brand new car and I just feel really helpless. If anyone has anymore advice or tips, I'd appreciate. Thanks.
