| |
Houston-area teachers continue to earn higher salaries than those in other Texas regions, according to state data. From the 2018-19 to 2022-23 school years, average teacher salaries increased by about 12% statewide, according to educator salary data from the Texas Education Agency. The Houston area, Region 4, slightly outpaced the state average with a 13% increase in average teacher pay across area districts. Region 4 encompasses eight counties and includes 89 public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools. Though the Houston region did not increase teacher salaries as much as some of the other 20 TEA regions during the five year period, Region 4 remained the highest-paying region in the state. Average base pay for teachers in the Houston region increased from about $57,800 in the 2018-19 school year to over $65,000 in 2022-23. submitted by /u/O_O___XD |
