Ohtani vs Crane
When Ohtani signed I was a little angry and I couldn't figure out why. We never had a shot at him nor did I harbor any I'll will towards the amount. I eventually realized my frustrations had nothing to do with Ohtani or the contract directly.
So I just want to say anyone who believes Jim Crane can't afford a higher payroll is a fool. And Crane is making fools of all Astros fans this off-season. Ohtani's contract proves that MLB owners are colluding to keep payrolls low and profits high. If you need further evidence consider the average value of an MLB Franchise. Nobody makes an investment of 1B+ for an unprofitable business.
Furthermore it's unfathomable that Ohtani can generate 35M/year of additional revenue compared to anyone other player on earth.
Jim Crane (and every other MLB owner) can go kick rocks and Manfred can too for covering for them. Corporate greed is slowly corrupting everything and the Ohtani contract shows MLB is no exception.
