Help Needed! BARC intake process
|
BARC intake Hello! I recently came across a starving stray dog. She was super sweet and I couldn’t just leave her out there, so she’s been staying with us. Took her into the vet and it turns out she has heart worms, so we’ve started her on treatment for that. She has a microchip that was never registered, and I’ve posted on a few sites but don’t think we’re going to have any luck finding her owner. Pretty much every rescue in Houston is over capacity and no one has been able to take her in, even though I’ve offered to foster her. I have an intake appointment with BARC next week, and have been approved as a foster. I don’t want to leave her there and be at risk for euthanasia, but I would like the support of BARC for her upcoming medical needs, and to hopefully find her a home. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will they let me take her home as a foster on the same day? Am I risking anything by having her become a part of the BARC system? Any other recommendations for me! Pic of the sweet pup for attention! submitted by /u/doctorlyman |
