I Need A Fence Installed For Autistic Brother
Hello fellow Houstonians. I have a question, and I have exhausted my options. I am the primary caregiver for my brother who is living with nonverbal autism and an intellectual disability. Due to my brother's autism, he has issues with elopement and I fear for his safety.
As a child, he was run over after he eloped off from school. I can also recall the times I would chase him as our parents 🕊️trailed behind us in their car. He’s now 47 years old, 6’ 2” and 220 pounds. I don’t want him to hurt himself or be perceived as a threat and harmed if he eloped again.
Recently, Texas GLO rebuilt our home due to the damage from Hurricane Harvey. In the process, they tore down the front fence and weren’t required to replace it. I cannot afford to finance a fence or pay for it out of pocket. He requires 24 hour care and I do not work.
I have reached out to city council, Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), United Way, Habitat for Humanity and autism organizations. No luck so far. It’s the holiday season so I’m hoping for a miracle. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone knows someone who owns a fence installation company who wouldn’t mind donating their materials and time, I would be forever grateful. Nothing fancy. A chain link fence will do. Thank you.
