People who ride scooters, what do you do with them when you get to your location?

I want a quick way to get around my neighborhood and at first considered an e-bike, but many places don’t even have bike racks outside, and I’ve noticed a lot of people using scooters, so now I’m considering that instead. For those of you who use scooters, once you get to your location, what do you do with them? I never see scooters locked up outside places, and I would imagine it would be heavy/ annoying to carry around inside, so what’s the deal?
