Good (and cheap) way to get around Houston without a car?

I’m going to be staying near the texas med center for next month. This is my first time in Houston and I want to make the most out of it.

I see that Houston is pretty well connected but it seems like having a car is an absolute necessity. Unfortunately I’m a student and do not have a car as of now.

What would he a good way to get around the city, explore museums,parks and popular bars around without a car?
