Why did the Moonlight Ramble fizzle out?

I've been on at least 15 of the Houston Moonlight Ramble bicycle rides, starting in the 1980s. I've missed five years and was thinking about going tonight. Then I just found out it has shriveled up and moved to May and starts at 9:00? What did I miss?
