Thai Seafood (Webster)

Thai Seafood (Webster)

I went here for lunch and was looking forward to some tasty Thai food, a cuisine I don’t order too often. The food was OK to quite good. It started with a chicken and tofu soup that felt like hot and sour soup but didn’t really have a lot of flavor. The salad came afterwards with a very sharp and vinegary peanut dressing – a bit too sour but definitely not falling into the trap of too sweet and tasting of nothing but peanuts. The main course was a seafood curry – shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid – that had a really good flavor in the sauce with tingly spices and a decent chili kick, and good-quality squid, but with one mussel that didn’t feel very fresh and made me gag, and fish and shrimp that were also all right. The dessert, Sticky rice with fried bananas and coconut ice cream, was pretty good – light coconut, crispy fried banana, and OK rice that was a bit hard to cut.

I wasn’t very happy with the service or ambience. There was nobody inside when I arrived and the server did not feel very welcoming and just popped by wordlessly to refill and deliver everything. The bill came and the dessert was rung up at $7.99 when the menu said $5.99. The server said the menu had not been changed and he would mark down the dessert, but did not seem happy about it at all. I did see him talking about fixing the menus with the other team in the meantime, though.

I’m not sure I’ll come back again when there’s another Thai spot nearby with better ambience, service, and food consistency.
