Three years after Harvey, Harris County home buyouts lag in response to Cypress Creek flooding

More than 13,200 homes in the Cypress Creek watershed have flooded since Harris County Flood Control District’s home buyout program launched in 1985. In the same 35 years, the district has purchased 241 homes from Cypress neighborhoods located along the creek.
