This…is a stat?

So I was reading this article on ESPN+ and when I came across this, it took me back a bit.

Now…I am well aware Maldy has had a rough year – but when is "framing" a stat against catchers? If I understand this correctly…pitches in the zone that are not called strikes are the catcher's fault???

Can someone help make sense of this for me, please

I have always viewed it as a 'missed call' not a 'oh, the catcher made a mistake for not getting the call'
