Was hit by a car last week, and the police report is now available. Called by ‘Accident Report Center’ – who are these people? is it a scam?
So, my report was made public today – and this company (i think they are a company) called me and notified me. Great i thought.
I assumed it was a department of the police or county or something.
Then after basically being super nice to me on the phone asks me if i was hurt, lost time off work etc.
Then she sent me a link and told me to click it and it would allow her (or her company?) to deal with my claims or something?
This is where red flags popped up for me. She said her department works with TXdot? Also sounds shady to me.
However, post accident ive been so focused on fighting liability and getting my car fixed (which has all been resolved now) i havent had chance to think about anything else.
Is this a scam? is this some legit part of the state trying to help me out?
I'm assuming scam. Im assuming police reports are public and when an accident one is posted theres probably these companies that get them and chase up the listed to see if they can make claims for them and skim off a percentage of any pay outs?
