3 Takeaways From Last Nights Games That Make Our Future Look Even Brighter
1) Nick Caserio committed highway robbery with the Deshaun Watson trade. Now I’m with the majority here is saying maybe Kenyon Green wasn’t the best use of the first of the 3 1sts we acquired from them though getting Pierce with their pick does offset that a bit. It’s important to note that wihout this years Browns 1st we don’t get the package of Stroud/Anderson Jr. makes this year. 2 rookies who already show to have outstanding character and composure. If nothing else we traded a cancer for culture and that’s a huge win.
2) last night was unique because not only did we get to watch the QB Stroud ultimately replaced we also got to watch the QB that was said to be a better pick than him. AAfter watching those games by the end of the season I think the common narrative will be that CJ Stroud is not only the best pure QB coming out of this draft but he will also be regarded as a better QB than the last “franchise” QB we had. There will be a buzz around Richardson as well but if the Colts are reckless with him he may find himself battling injury more than any player should have to. One thing is for certain. Deshaun looked bad. He was incredibly undisciplined taking 2 15 years penalties for unnecessary face masks as he ran in pivotal moments during the game. Both leading to 3rd and 20+. The things we used to groan about were even worse. He hung onto the ball for a calendar year. Threw multiple suicide passes for this receivers. And tried to be Superman despite having the LEAD In the 4th quarter. He was directly scored more points for the Steelers than the Browns last night.
3) One injury can completely change the makeup of a team and their game plan as a whole. We have been playing with almost half our team injured. The fact we are seeing progress week over week is not to be taken for granted. When other teams loose their best players they too start looking way more average.
