Is there a way to combat the wasps?

For other insect problems (ants/roaches/etc) I know what to do, but for wasps it seems like I have to try to off them one by one with spray and destroying their nests. I say wasps but also the dirt daubers of course. They are EVERYWHERE this year.

Is there something I can walk around and spray the house with? Anyone know why this year it's so bad, and what tactics there are to lessen them?

I have young kids and I'm just waiting for them to catch the ire of these bastards. One even found its way in the house.
