Mediocre City Council Candidates?
I just had some block walkers for Mario Castillo's campaign come to my house in District H, which prompted me to look into the candidates running. They all seem depressing milquetoast and mediocre. Their respective platforms seem like nothing but a stream of buzzwords with a complete lack of substance to differentiate themselves from any of the other candidates.
I have trouble with a lack of trash service and illegal dumping in my neighborhood, and there's a complete lack of bike lanes. Is it too much to ask for a candidate who will openly support any position? If someone came out and said they want to try and reform Houston Solid Waste and wanted to invest in bike lanes, I'd be enthusiasticly supporting them, but it seems like they're all trying to avoid taking any stance on any issue. One guy is running in a platform of lacking street parking in the district. Is this really our best and brightest? I'm totally unmotivated to vote for any of these people.
