Notable Cuts/Makes
The 53 man roster is out! What are some notable cuts/makes in your opinion?
Cuts:
CB Desmond King II – None of us saw this coming, but it makes sense. Cap casualty.
LB Christian Kirksey – Obviously the right move, glad they actually did it. Cap casualty.
DT Roy Lopez – Many called him a total draft steal for us just a year ago. Injury coupled with strong DT competition made this one hard for him.
DE – Jacob Martin – Actually kind of shocked this speed rusher didn't make it. A fan favorite, he will be missed.
LB Cory Littleton – This vet was a pro bowler and second team All-Pro a mere 5 seasons ago. Some of these guys fall off quick, I supposed.
DT Khalil Davis – Many thought the Lopez cut was signaling that he would stay, especially following a strong preseason.
S Brandon Hill – Our 7th rounder this year, kind of saw it coming though. Hard to make the team as an injured 7th rounder, also tough to see guys get cut straight out of the draft.
G Michael Dieter – Had a very strong preseason, played with the 1st team from time to time. Especially with questionable IOL depth,
WR Steven Sims – A dark horse to make the team for many. Buzz that his work on special teams would get him a spot.
DT – Thomas Booker IV – After just one season, the Stanford grad, and 2022 6th rounder, is cut after dealing with injury during the preseason.
Makes:
CB Ka'Dar Hollman – Makes his first NFL roster since being waived by the Texans in 2021.
TE Brevin Jordan – Despite injury and a disappointing sophomore campaign, the former 5th rounder makes the roster, unlike his fellow 5th rounder LB Garrett Wallow.
DT Kurt Hinish – The former UDFA ousts Booker, Davis, and Lopez.
LB Jake Hansen – Another 2022 UDFA making the cut again.
LB Neville Hewitt – The former Dolphin and Jet returns for a third season in Houston.
DE Derek Rivers – After playing in 5 games in 2021, recording 1 sack, he was kept out all of 2022 due to injury. The former Patriots third round pick returns and ousts another former Pat, Winovich, who put up 11 sacks during his two year tenure in New England.
