Help with METRO routes

Hi guys, I am travelling to Houston soon and wanted to save as much money as possible when moving around the city. I've tried looking up transit routes at METRO website but since I haven't been to Houston before I get easily lost/confused by the names.

I need to go from Sugar Land-downtown-Westfield and back (I don't mind walking between stops). Is it possible and how much would that commute route cost?
