THC-A hemp flower and the legality, spreading some knowledge. [no sourcing]
A guys post got removed for sourcing so I'd like to repost with information I shared so people can have knowledge when purchasing this legal product. Please don't add any sources to this post.
Hemp is legal due to the 2018 farm bill and supports a multi billion dollar industry. When they drafted this bill it opened a loophole. All cannabis is hemp, it's divided into types. The new trend is selling THC-A hemp that tests lower than .3% THC but is still high in THC-A. Every joint you've ever smoked is THC-A "hemp", all cannabis is hemp.
More than .3% THC = cannabis, less than .3% THC = Hemp. It's all the same plant, always has been…
The reason THC-A hemp flowers are legal is because they are tested for THC percentage 30 days before harvest, so the COA does say it's legal but by the time it gets to you it can possibly no longer be compliant and contain more than .3% THC. Time and heat both convert THC-A to THC.
Be careful and treat it as regular weed even though it's sold legally. If you get popped for THC-A flower and it's tested, it can be way hotter than .3% THC.
Some of these shops sell cheap CBD flower with THC-A diamonds sprinkled on (if you're lucky) or spray Delta-8 distillate on cheap CBD flower then sell as THC-A flower. Be aware of what you're getting. Look at it, smell it if possible. It will look and smell like what you are used to. The retail shops are very high priced, do yourself a favor and shop around. Hemp products are legally delivered via USPS because the farms you are buying from have federal hemp licenses to ship in the mail.
This is legal.
Hemp/cannabis is classed in 3 main types:
Type 1 = high THC-A but still tests at .3% THC
Type 2 = 1:1 with equal parts THC-A and CBD
Type 3 = more CBD than THC-A (this is the "CBD" flower you see at gas stations and the healthy boutique CBD stores that looks like trash) but you can find amazing Type 3 flower if you are needing CBD, some of the flower can be 2-3% terps (very interesting smell profiles)
Old school smokers will love Type 2, usually around 10-15% THC-A and equal parts CBD. For the folks that think today's flower is too heavy in THC.
Mixing Type 3 and Type 1 is also popular to get unique terp profiles for medical needs, essentially creating a custom Type 2 blend.
