Is the Houston tap water safe to drink?
According to Google and the EPA, it is, but I’ve drank the water from my apartment (built in the 1970s) on two occasions and it gave me a stomach ache and basically was the worst tasting tap water that I have ever had in my life. On the second occasion I was even using a Brita pitcher filter and it tasted exactly the same and gave me stomach ache.
So I read that even though in general Houston tap water is EPA approved , the quality and safety of it can be greatly affected by what building the water is coming out off.
It seems like with all the boil water notices, heavy industry, and no zoning laws that Houston tap water is probably not safe at all to drink . I just don’t trust it. In contrast I’ve been all over the country and the tap waters have been just fine. Houston seems unique in having unsafe drinking water. At this point, even if I lived in some brand new million dollar mansion in River Oaks, I still wouldn’t trust the water.
