How reliable is usage data from energy companies?

I just moved into a 900sf apartment about three weeks ago and my energy company (reliant) is claiming that I am using 45 kHw per day. This is way more than I used at my last apartment, in fact it is more than my parents use in their 4 bedroom home. Im not sure how this is possible. When I go to work I completely turn off my AC unit and turn it on before I return home at 4 (I can control it from my phone). I leave all the lights off when I go to work. When I do get home I make sure to set the temperature to a energy saving number. At night I set the thermostat to 74. If anyone has any idea of what might be causing such a big use of energy I would appreciate the help.
