What are the moderately priced restaurants around houston that actually have good food?

I have lived here my whole life but when I was younger my parents never really had us eat out. Then I moved for college/post-college, and now that I am an adult living here I have no idea what’s good around here! I want to pick a place to go to dinner with my friends but when I look up stuff on Tiktok they are literally the bougiest places or places that are literally just made to be for pics that don’t have the best food. I ask my other friends that live here too and they don’t know any good places.

What happened to chill dinner spots that don’t cost an arm and a leg? Now that I am an adult here, it feels like a lot of ppl in houston only care about like vibes and not the actual taste of the food. I remember when Houston was known for having the best food but now the popular options I am seeing are either way too expensive or lackluster. I know I can google or yelp this stuff and I have but I can’t seem to find what I am looking for. When I visit my sister in Austin there’s sooo many reasonably priced, nice places to go and a lot of “food tiktokers” there highlight those places but for some reason it’s so hard for me to find that here.

Does anyone who lives here have any favorite spots that are still a nice vibe but moderately priced? I’m in my 20s and just want something nice without breaking the bank lol
