A person with a bachelors and 3-5 years of experience has a decent life in Houston and doesn’t need more than 1 job, true or false?
I'm not from the US but I have been living in Houston for 10+ years. Recently some friends from the homeland came to visit their family and we met up. They have been thinking about moving to Houston since they have family here. They asked me and my husband about life in Houston and economic prospects as two white collar professionals with experience in their field.
We thought of all our of friends (the vast majority who have bachelors degrees) and honestly they're all pretty alright without having to get a second job/hustle. This is coming from a wide range of backgrounds. I have a lot of immigrant and first gen friends who even support family members in the US or send remittances.
Do we just have a very economically fortunate friend group? Am I living in an alternate reality here?
