Patterson-UTI Energy to acquire drill bit company Ulterra amid $5.4B NexTier merger

Less than a month after announcing its merger of equals with NexTier Oilfield Solutions, Patterson-UTI Energy said it will acquire Fort Worth-based Ulterra Drilling Technologies LP from affiliates of Blackstone Energy Partners.
