Anyone here done substitute teaching?

I have a question if so, please DM me if you can. It mostly has to do with orientations and whether or not you had to pay for fingerprints or if the district provided this for you. I was told to pay $50 USD for orientation which 30 other people will also attend (and there’ll be another orientation with 30 other people the following month), but I’ve only just registered for the position and don’t even think I’m guaranteed a job or even anywhere nearby. Don’t even have any info on the job. I was wondering if this is standard protocol? At YMCA, for after-school coordinator jobs, they’d pay for your fingerprints, but it seems not to be the case here with the school district/ISD. They told me that I’d pay out of pocket. Is that normal? I’m broke asf and feel this to be risky but maybe it’s still worth to go. No teaching certificate, only a bachelor’s that is somewhat related to this pathway.
