Looking for local legal advice (discriminatory firing for being LGBT+more)
I don't post on this sub often but I was advise it might help me find someone/people that can help me and a fellow ex-coworker for discriminatory firing. Personally, this has put me in a very poor place financially speaking, but our primary motivation for seeking action is primarily based on holding an owner of this business accountable.
I'm going to try to avoid using specifics but will try to be concise. One of those running the establishment in question directed the head of management (a fellow openly LGBT employee) to fire me, with the reasoning being along the lines of being a 'softy'/'sissy', with no further clarification. The head of management was immediately terminated following this and was provided similar, vague reasoning.
Both I and the head of management were stellar employees. We added value to the business, built connections, and had a strong work relationship with whole staff, so both of these decisions to remove us were sudden, unexpected, and a shock to the whole business. We also have a record of discriminatory and derogatory language being used towards staff and the public behind closed doors, records (written, video, third party accounts) of sexual harassment/activity, intoxication, and negligence to adhere to business procedure and code.
We were also the only two openly LGBT employees but have a number of female employees subjected to their own forms of mistreatment and harassment, accounts, publicly posted reviews of the business, etc. We just don't really know where to move forward from here, whether it is smart pursuing, or really what the best way of bringing this up to other communities.
Appreciate any insight.
