Working in Fulshear, wanting to live in a walkable area.

Asking for someone else. They are working in Fulshear near FM 1463 & Cinco Ranch Blvd. They would love to live in the Heights for the walkability and proximity to Houston proper, BUT that’s a hell of a commute. Any suggestions for a good compromise? An area that is walkable (they have dogs) and has plenty to offer in regards to things to do? And of course is affordable ($1000 or less). TIA!
