Truck Thefts North Houston

I work at a grocery store chain in North Houston near Greenspoint, there have been three truck thefts in a week at this location and another one in a different store. Police officer that came said that it's mostly trucks 2019 and newer being targeted. From the videos it could be seen the culprits would open the hood and then we're able to gain access to the vehicle and drove off in it. Anyone have an idea if there is a particular reason it's newer trucks being targeted or a flaw in their design? It was some GMC and Ford trucks. I'm worried also because my truck is also in that year range of specific trucks targeted.
