Renting a car from the airport (Hobby) — good idea or bad idea?

Hi all! I'll be in town for a weekend come June and I'm interested in renting a car. I'm seeing quite a few available at the Hobby Airport rental area, but I'm always leery of airport car rentals because a) the lines tend to be insanely long, and b) something always seems to go wrong haha. Any tips on whether renting from a place like Dollar Rentals, Avis, etc is worth it? I have a Zipcar membership but it looks like there aren't any Zipcars in Houston. Should I get a Turo membership?
